This month’s spotlight shines in the Sales Department of our Louisville office. Brian Goul is one of our Louisville Account Executives. He joined the Unified team in January of 2014. Here’s a little more about Brian in his own words.
Tell us a little bit about the type of work you do at Unified Technologies and your job responsibilities.
I am responsible for establishing new business relationships with Unified Technologies clients and strategic partners. I also spend a great deal of time working with our internal teams on pre-sales and post-sales support.
When you aren’t at work, what keeps you busy?
My wife and I have 4 children ranging in ages from 11 – 23. So that in itself keeps me (us) busy on a daily basis. We also are very involved in the lives of a lot of family members and friends.
Have you always been in this industry? If not, what brought you where you are today?
This is my first stint in “Telecom.” Prior to Unified, I spent over 20 years in the Technology Sector starting out when the Fax machine made its big debut in corporate America and E-Mail was a “novelty” (how did we get anything done back then??)
What brought me here isn’t actually a what, but a who. Brian Borgman is solely responsible for bringing me on at Unified (so if things go belly up its all on Brian Borgman). Brian originally wanted me to consider a more technical role at Unified when he reached out, but after our first meeting, things shifted more to a “sales” role. Thank goodness, I have been here over 4 years and I still am trying to learn all the unique technical aspects of the things we do.
What’s one thing you love about what you do for a living?
The people that I get to meet and the businesses that I get to learn about. I have always been a “student” of businesses and truly enjoy learning about how companies get started and what keeps them going. There are a lot of interesting people and businesses that I have had the opportunity to work with over the years.
What you do for fun or to unwind?
Well, for the folks that know me I am not about to tell you something that you all have been waiting to hear or something strange that you just knew had to be true. I like hanging out with my family either watching a Movie, traveling, or just hanging out.
If you could do one thing for a living that had nothing to do with your current job, what would it be?
I originally set out to go to Law School at Ole Miss but fate had it that I would immediately change course and enroll in Business School at Miss. State. I think being a corporate lawyer would be fun! If not doing that for a living, I would be in full-time Ministry.
Is there something fun or interesting that you’d like people to know about you?
Not a whole lot here, but the one thing that is interesting is what happened to me November 6th, 1998. It was a near death experience that changed my life forever. Too much to write here, but if you are interested and we are together, remind me and I would love to tell you more….
Favorite food or snack
Mega Stuffed Oreos and a really cold glass of milk.
Family info – kids, siblings, where are you from, born?
Married to Debbie 17 years and have 4 children – Hannah, Matthew, Sarah, and Hunter. I was born in Eastpoint, Georgia. I moved to Louisville in 2007 from Mobile, Alabama where I lived for 25 years. Often called “LA” (Lower Alabama) or the “Silicon Swamp.”
