Kevin Hester has been with Unified Technologies since November of 2016 and brings with him a large knowledge of all things Mitel. He has recently just returned from a ‘Magical’ vacation to the Kingdom in Orlando, so he’s rested and ready to get back to what he does so well.
We even enlisted Kevin’s wife, Sarah, to take our company pictures for us back in March. She has her own photography company and we will need to get her back in as we have added about 10 employees since she snapped shots of all of us 4 months ago. Here’s a little more about Kevin in his own words.
1. Tell us a little bit about the type of work you do at Unified Technologies and your job responsibilities.
At Unified, I service and install multiple manufacturers Unified Communications platforms. I dance, I sing, and smile =D
2. When you aren’t at work, what keeps you busy?
My family! I have two younger children that enjoy life to its fullest! So much fun!
3. Have you always been in this industry? If not, what brought you where you are today?
I started in construction doing electric as a kid with my father. I really enjoyed building and fixing things. When I was 9, my grandfather gave us a computer and since then I was hooked! After college, I worked at Insight Communications as a lineman then went to Inter-Tel. Inter-Tel allowed me to enjoy the building aspect and my background in computers helped me grow from a service tech to an Engineer at Mitel. From Mitel, I went to another VAR that refined my experience on the Mitel platform and expanded my knowledge of networking, virtualization and storage. At last, I am finally home at Unified Technologies.
4. What’s one thing you love about what you do for a living?
Every day is new. You can have two of the same exact issues but for two different systems and the solution may not be the same! Thinking on your toes, getting creative and solving problems is what keeps me intrigued. Meeting new people every day and to help guide companies toward successful communication solutions is the driving force.
5. What you do for fun or to unwind?
I spend time with the family, play baseball, golf, build and mod computers, computer games, movies, very amateur carpenter, etc. My favorite is bike rides with the kiddos!
6. If you could do one thing for a living that had nothing to do with your current job, what would it be?
Professional Baseball player. I have played baseball for more than 30 years and still play now.
7. Is there something fun or interesting that you’d like people to know about you?
I have played the same computer game with the same friends for over 15 years. A LONG time ago our team was considered Professional and we got paid to play!
8. Favorite food or snack
Cheap Powder Kraft Macaroni and Cheese….there is no other.
9. Family info – kids, siblings, where are you from, born?
I am married to a gorgeous redhead, Sarah, with two beautiful, outgoing and rambunctious children; Claire and Ben. I was born and raised in Louisville, KY and still reside here. GO CARDS!!!
