On Mother’s Day this year, I visited Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill for a wonderful brunch and stroll around the grounds. It’s about an hour drive from Louisville, probably a little closer to Lexington, and well worth the trip. Once you arrive and begin to take in the beauty of the surroundings, you’ll feel light years away from the hectic rush of the city. Life just seems to slow down there. Living in Kentucky my whole life, I had heard about Shaker Village and possibly even took a field trip there when I was younger but never fully appreciated the beauty of this hidden gem until now.

It helped that the weather was perfect for our visit and that I was accompanied by my one-year-old granddaughter, son and daughter-in-law, and her parents and aunt. We took our time exploring the buildings and soaking in the history of the place. You can’t help but slow down when you visit to enjoy every moment. We spent a lot of time in the barnyard area watching the baby goats and chickens. I couldn’t help bragging to our group that Shaker Village was a partner of Unified Technologies. We’ve been providing and servicing the telecommunications needs of Shaker Village since 2014.
