Tell us a little bit about the type of work you do at Unified Technologies –
I do a little bit of everything here at Unified Technologies! My number one goal is to make sure that our customers are being taken care of. I sit at our front desk so I also get to interact with our customers as people come and go from the office. I have always been in customer service roles and love being able to make someone’s day brighter!
List out a few of your job responsibilities –
I greet all visitors coming in the front door, answer incoming phone calls and emails, help customers fix issues remotely, assist our Project Managers with Carrier issues and many other projects here internally to keep things running smoothly. We recently completed our Awesome New Conference Hall next door and I was able to help with many small tasks to get the job completed.
When you aren’t at work, what keeps you busy?
My 6-month-old baby boy Gabriel! Aside from him, I enjoy spending time cooking, gardening, crafty projects around the home and attending University of Louisville sporting events. Go Cards!
Have you always been in this industry? If not, what brought you where you are today?
If you ask anyone around here they would tell you I am a “newbie” to the Telecom industry, but everyone must start somewhere! I was a business major in college as I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do later and business just came naturally to me. I powered through 5 years of college completing undergrad and graduate studies and then ventured out into the workforce. I spent my first 4 years in Tampa at a Medical Software company and then moved to Louisville with my husband. My husband is originally from Louisville and already had a job lined up out at St. Patrick Catholic School. I had previously been a Project Manager in Tampa and wanted to continue with that career path. I came across Unified Technologies through a luncheon I was invited to and the rest is history! I knew nothing about Telecom and a little bit about IT so when I began at UT in the summer of 2015 I had a lot to learn. I started out on our Project Management team and moved over to Tier 1 once I returned from maternity leave. I love the fast pace of this industry and the ever-changing technology, it creates an exciting environment with ample opportunities to learn.
What’s one thing you love about what you do for a living?
I love being able to come to work every day knowing that I will always learn something new.
What do you do for fun or to unwind?
Pamper myself. Whether it be going to get a pedicure or getting my hair done there is nothing more relaxing than letting someone else pamper you.
If you could do one thing for a living that had nothing to do with your current job, what would it be?
I would love to be a Construction Project Manager or an Interior Designer. My husband and I bought a foreclosed house when we moved to Louisville and remodeled the whole thing. I loved the process of walking through at the very beginning and having a vision for it and seeing that vision come to life.
Is there something fun or interesting that you’d like people to know about you?
I spent a month in China after Grad school with a small group of students from my University. We were going over there to present at an International Business Conference in Wuhan and got to travel to other cities as well. I was able to climb the Great Wall of China, see the Olympic Stadium and visit a park that inspired the movie Avatar. It was an amazing trip all around!
Favorite food or snack
It’s very hard for me to pick a favorite as I love ALL food… If I had to go with just one I would say Steak, I enjoy a good steak dinner.
Family info – kids, siblings, where are you from, born?
I have one child, my 6-month-old son Gabriel. I have one older brother named Derek who is married with 2 children. I am originally from Upstate NY from a small town called Penn Yan which is in the Finger Lakes Region. My hometown is about 10 hours from Louisville but is very similar in many ways which is why I love it here!
