This month the Employee Spotlight is shining in our Lexington office. Ashley Easton is one of our Project Managers in that office. She received the Project Manager of the Year award at this year’s company banquet for her ability to ‘Grab the Next Rung’ as she completed product certification on our line of products from ShoreTel. Here’s a little more about Ashley in her own words.
Tell us about a few of your job responsibilities.
My responsibility as a project manager is once a job is sold I am responsible for the implementation of the telephone system and any additional features included in the project. I work with the customer on the design of the telephone system to meet their business needs and then take that information and program everything. I hold training classes for the end users and administrative training classes for the person in charge of the system. I also work with carriers on carrier changes a customer might have. I am with the customer on the first day of service and assist in any additional training, programming changes or questions customers have in regards to their telephone system.
When you aren’t at work, what keeps you busy?
My son Lincoln who will be 2 in July keeps me busy at all times of the day.
Have you always been in this industry? If not, what brought you where you are today?
Pretty much my entire career has been in the telecommunication industry and with the employees at Unified Technologies. I worked 1 year at 5/3 bank as a teller prior to starting in the industry. My interview came from a job post on careerbuilder.com. I originally started out in sales but the Project Manager in the Lexington office was getting ready to leave and I thought that would be a better fit for my personality. I’ve been in the Project Management role for over 10 years now.
What’s one thing you love about what you do for a living?
I love that I get to meet new people almost every day and get to form a relationship with my customers. I love that every day is different and i love the sense of pride that comes with each installation as I assist the customers with their business needs.
What you do for fun or to unwind?
Spend as much time as possible with my family and friends especially my son. My husband and I just love watching him learn and have new experiences.
If you could do one thing for a living that had nothing to do with your current job, what would it be?
I would be a party planner. I love a good party and in my group of friends, I am usually the one organizing our get together.

Family info – kids, siblings, where are you from, born?
I was born in Lexington, KY but grew in Eastern KY as an only child. I moved to Lexington after high school to attend the University of Kentucky and majored in journalism. While at U.K. I met my husband Jason through mutual friends. We will be married 12 years in September and our son Lincoln will be 2 years old in July.
