Unified Technologies and Louisville Bats Baseball

A Grand Slam Relationship

Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, here are 3 interesting facts about the holiday.

  1. Teachers (who knew?) receive the most valentines, followed by kids, mothers, wives and sweethearts in that order. Hmmmm.
  2. 3% of pet owners will buy a Valentine for their furry friends. So go ahead, show Fido you love him with a special treat.
  3. And this last one hits home for us here at Unified. Alexander Graham Bell applied for his patent on the telephone, an “Improvement in Telegraphy”, 140 years ago on Valentine’s Day, 1876. Celebrate this interesting fact by calling someone you love today, maybe your mom???

If you are looking for a unique Valentine gift you may consider supporting one of our customers.

Let’s start with the obvious Valentine’s Day gifts. Our partners at Colonial Designs, Country Squire Florist and Dixie Florist are ready to send the perfect bouquet to your sweetheart. Davis Jewelers are obviously ready to help you select the perfect piece of jewelry for your Valentine, but let’s think outside the box for a minute.

For instance, if you have a sweet tooth, why not go to Graeter’s for an Ice Cream Sundae or Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen for a decadent chocolate dessert. The Bakery at Sullivan University is a great place to pick up a unique sweet treat.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway you might consider The Campbell House in Lexington, Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill or Boone Tavern in Berea for a weekend getaway.

Dinner in your plans? How about Malone’s in Lexington, Delfino’s or Z’s Oyster Bar. Thinking a bit more casual? There’s always Bearno’s heart shaped pizza, Gold Star Chili or maybe reservations at White Castle. If you’re an early riser maybe a great egg sandwich at Gracious Plenty in Prospect or try Zeggz Amazing Eggs for brunch.

Want to pamper your sweetie? Our partners at Z Salon & Spa would be happy to provide a spa day. Joseph’s Salon & Spa and LeBliss Salon & Spa are also perfect places for pampering.

Weather permitting, there’s nothing more romantic than a picnic in the park. Visit 21st Century Parks’ Egg Lawn or Bernheim Forest for a little ‘back to nature’ adventure.

If you’re looking for a unique night out, you could give your valentine tickets to the Spring Collaboration of the Louisville Ballet and the Louisville Orchestra (March 4-5) or check the upcoming schedule at the Derby Dinner Playhouse for dinner and a show.

Hope that helps give you a few ideas for a wonderful Valentine’s Day.
