So millennials don’t like voice mail. Not surprising. What is a little startling is that some big companies are pulling the plug on it. Banking giant JP Morgan Chase is eliminating voicemail for 65% of its employees and when Coca Cola decided to do away with it at their Atlanta Headquarters, only 6% of its employees asked to keep it.

Communication tools are constantly changing and evolving. It is simplicity and efficiency that today’s work force is demanding. While there will always be a need to communicate, the way we do it today may not be the best way in the future.

In a recent blog, ShoreTel’s Chandler Harris, pointed out that it’s not always about saving money. “The decision had more to do with simplifying work than trimming costs,”

What’s your first choice in communicating?  Texting? In person? I’m guessing your answer is not voice mail.
