Another Derby week is in the books. Hopefully you had a chance to take part in some of the festivities or visit Churchill Downs at least once during the week.
They say there is 6 degrees of separation between any two people. We in Kentucky think it’s much less than that. And when you live and work in the heart of the Bluegrass State, you almost always have a connection to the horses. As we attended or watched the festivities on TV we couldn’t help but notice how many of our customers were involved in some way with the events of the week.
There is a great possibility that some of the horses that raced this weekend were bred right here in Kentucky at Darley Stables, where our team installed a ShoreTel system 2 years ago. Also, our longtime customer, Thoroughbred Training Center was mentioned several times in the media last week as one of the premier training facilities for racehorses. Similarly, our friends at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital received recognition for their care of horses needing extra attention due to injury or illness. Wickliffe Pharmacy caters to the horse industry and we’re sure they were very busy last week as well.
As we were placing our bets, we couldn’t help but look down and smile as we used information from the Daily Racing Form, distributed by Louisville News, who we literally picked up as a partner and customer just last week!
And, as we looked to the sky, flying high over Churchill Downs racetrack was our recent customer, KESA, proudly displaying their logo behind a plane.
If we take it out a degree we can bet that our newest ShoreTel customer Z Salon and Spa was busy matching hats with hairdo’s for many of the ladies attending the Oaks and Derby. Our customer, TARC, shuttled thousands to and from the track and The Blue Grass Airport surely accommodated many travelers into the state. Atlantic Aviation was busying fueling hundreds of private planes at Standiford Airport.
We know orders with BlueFin Seafood and Creation Gardens in the weeks leading up to the Derby and would not be surprised if WTVQ in Lexington covered many of the races and events of the week. The Kentucky Chamber and GLI were certainly busy hosting guests throughout the events as well.
It’s an honor for our team at Unified Technologies to work with all of our great partners. Congratulations to all on another successful Derby season, and for representing the Bluegrass State so well!
