Okay, so we’re two months into the New Year and it’s time to see where we stand with those New Year’s Resolutions. The UT family made an array of resolutions from Glenn Turner learning to play guitar to Jayme Lunde and Jim Bartlett participating in ‘Bowling for Kids Sake’. Brian Borgman has a whole life changing journey in front of him this year as you may have seen in his blog ‘Borg Man’s World’. He and his family are adopting a baby from Ethiopia. And I am completing the last step to becoming a Big Sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentucky, to name a few.
In addition, many of us have resolved to get into shape. On our first day back to work after the New Year’s holiday Jeff Welton challenged the staff at Unified Technologies to run the Derby Festival Marathon. We were hoping to get a 5-man team together to run the 26 mile relay and to our surprise we were able to man 3 separate teams. That’s right 15 of us will venture out on April 28th at the crack of dawn to test our strength and endurance (and sanity). Our partners at Louisville Geek and Virtual Telecom will participate with us.
Several of us have started training on a very slow but steady pace and some of us are waiting until the optimum moment, in other words procrastinating. Each team of 5 will run a leg of the 26.2 miles at distances of 6.2, 3.1 or the 7.5 mile anchor. So far so good. No career ending injury to anyone yet.
Caj Maier and I ran the Anthem 5K this weekend right down the street from the Headquarters of PCUSA where our operations team was busy installing a new ShoreTel system. 3.1 miles completed. Now can we do 26? Anything’s possible with teamwork.
